Multan Sultans – Preview
Multan Sultans is a professional T20 cricket franchise in Pakistan that plays in the Pakistan Super League. They have been playing in the tournament since the third season in the year 2018 and are also champions of PSL 6. It is a city-wide tournament in Multan as well as their own home venue is the Multan Cricket Stadium.
The franchise has experienced numerous ownership changes, ranging from Schon Properties to Alamgir Khan Tareen and Ali Khan Tareen and then to Alamgir Khan Tareen. A number of former International cricketers are on the management and coaching team. Andy Flower is their head coach, and Mushtaq Ahmed works as their assistant Director of Spin Bowling. Shoaib Malik served as their captain in the beginning and now Muhammad Rizwan is their current captain.
Ownership History
The first owner of the franchise was Schon Properties as they bought the franchise eight years after having won the contract via bidding by 10 bidders. After the initial year, the agreement was ended by the owner and PCB because they did not pay the annual fees required by PCB. PCB assumed control. A tender was immediately put forward afterward to buy the franchise again. Alamgir Khan Tareen and Ali Khan Tareen from the Multan Consortium won the bid and the team was then purchased by them. In 2021, following 3 years of ownership, Alamgir Tareen became the sole owner of the franchise.
The Team’s Identity as well as Sponsors and Partners
The logo and team kit was unveiled during the September ceremony in 2017. The logo depicts horse riding with a traditional dress that depicts traditional attire of the Saraiki tradition that is part of Southern Punjab. The team is represented by two official colors, sea green and blue.

In 2019, the shirt front sponsor was Pepsi, the shirt’s back was sponsored by Afsaneh, front branding by Lays and the sleeve branding by OLX, Asia Ghee Mill and F.C.
In 2020, the shirt front sponsor was Pepsi, the shirt’s back was sponsored by Fatima Group, front branding by Kurkure and the sleeve branding by Pepsi, Asia Ghee and Shell V-Power.
In 2021, the shirt front sponsor was Pepsi, the shirt’s back was sponsored by Fatima Group, front branding by G.F.C Fans and the sleeve branding by Snack Video and Asia Ghee.
In 2022, the shirt front sponsor was Pepsi, the shirt’s back was sponsored by Fatima Group, front branding by wolf777 News and the sleeve branding by Asia Ghee, Shell V-Power and Nishan-E-Haider Builders and Developers.

PSL 2018 Season 3
In their debut campaign, Multan Sultans got eliminated in the group stage, as they were unable to win most of their games. Shoaib Malik was appointed captain for the initial season. Tom Moody was made head coach, while Wasim Akram was their director. The veteran Nadeem Khan was their team’s manager.
They finished 5th on the table of points, with 9 points, having only managed to win four out of 10 games in the stage of group play. One match did not produce a result.

PSL 2019 Season 4
Following the disappointing start to the year, Multan Sultans made some changes within the management and team. Johan Botha was appointed as the head coach of the team. Wasim Akram was also moved to Karachi Kings. The team was unable to make it through the play-off stage and was eliminated from the group stage.
Sultans were 5th in the table of points with 6 points. They only won three out of the 10 games in the group.

PSL 2020 Season 5
Numerous changes were implemented prior to Pakistan Super League season 5. Shan Masood was made captain of the team, and Andy Flower joined as the Head Coach. Multan Sultans reached the playoffs stage for the first time, but unfortunately lost both their games in the final against Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars and didn’t make it to the finals.
They came first on the top of the points table, scoring 14 points from the group stage, winning six out of 10 matches. Two matches did not yield any results.

PSL 2021 Season 6
It was a year of greatness for the Multan Sultans because they won a PSL title for the first time. They began their season on a down note losing both their games against Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United. They picked up the pace and were able to qualify for the playoffs, and from that point, they made it to the final and then won the match.
Multan Sultans finished second on the points table, scoring 10 points after winning five of their 10 matches during the group stage. In playoffs, they initially defeated Islamabad United to reach the finals. They then beat Peshawar Zalmi in the finals to become Pakistan Super League champions for the first time.

PSL 2022 Season 7
After winning last season, it was an opportunity to defend their crown. They had a great start, beating the opposition in nearly every match on the group stage. They lost only to Lahore Qalandars this season. The final game was played one between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars, in which they were defeated by 42 runs and ended up being runners-up.
Multan Sultan placed first in the table of points with 18 points after they took 9 wins out of 10 matches in the group stage.

PSL 2023 Season 8
The 8th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is just around the corner and we couldn’t be more excited! This year’s tournament will see some new changes. The date for the 8th season of the Pakistan Super League has been revealed. PSL-8 would be conducted from February 13th to March 19th, 2023.
